The Middletown Department of Recreation offers a variety of programs during its eight week summer season, which begins June 26th and ends August 18th.
No programs will be held on July 4th weekend and on Victory Day weekend. In the event of rain the playground program will be held in doors. All other programs will be cancelled.
PLAYGROUND PROGRAM (June 26th – August 18th)
Gaudet Middle School, Turner Road entrance.
The summer playground program provides supervised activities for children (ages 6 to 12) at the Gaudet Middle School (Turner Rd entrance). The program operates Monday through Friday and offers a half-day program from 8:30 AM until noon or full days program 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM. Daily activities include organized games and contests, arts and crafts, and sports. Special field trips are planned for this year. These trips will be scheduled for either a Wednesday or Thursday. The playground group will meet at 3rd Beach on Fridays.

PICK-UP LATE FEES: $5.00 for every 10 min.
Tennis lessons for boys and girls ages 8 to 12 years old are offered at the Gaudet Middle School. The lessons consist of 1-hour sessions. Fee $45.00 per child (family limit $75.00) Non-Resident $60.00 per child (family limit $100.00 family)
This program is held at Second Beach and is open to youngsters between the ages of 9 and 15. Instruction includes lifesaving and physical training; water safety and first aid instruction; and rescue swimming techniques. All participants must pass a prerequisite test before to be accepted into the program. Candidates should register during the recreation registration period in May. There is a $30.00 fee, or a non-resident $50.00 fee, for this program. Contact the Beach at 849-2822 for additional information.

At Middletown High School: Wrestling instruction & conditioning in folk style (style wrestled in high school) for youth ages 6 to 18 years old. Wrestlers will be able to compete in several folk style tournaments around New England over the summer. Call Dave Biestek 846-1689
