The Town offers two options for bulky waste:
1) Buy a sticker at the Department of Public Works or online (cost varies, depending on the item or items) then call Waste Management to schedule a curbside pickup.
2) Drive to the Newport transfer station w/ bulky waste and drop it off there. Residents will pay by weight, $90 per ton with a minimum charge of $10. Be sure to bring proof of residency: license, car registration, tax bill, etc.
However, if your bulky waste is in usable condition please consider donating it or try giving it away using Free Market RI, Free Cycle or craigslist.org.

Special Instructions
Please remove the doors from your discarded refrigerator before you place it on the street or bring it to the Recycling Center. Removal of doors is done to prevent children from playing with the appliance and inadvertently getting locked inside.

Please DO NOT throw propane gas tanks in the trash or recycling carts. What may seem like an empty tank probably contains small amounts of gas and thus it could be hazardous to anyone that handles it. Propane tanks are to be brought to the Newport Transfer Station or to an Eco Depot.
The Newport transfer stations hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm and Saturday 7:30 am to Noon. For more information, click here.

Collection Schedule
Appliances are picked up the first Monday of every month and all other bulky waste items are collected the third Monday of every month.
