Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency
Preliminary FIRM Map Revisions, May 2, 2012
Click on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) panel numbers below to see maps depicting the effect of proposed revisions to FEMA FIRMs in Middletown. As a result of recent coastal hazard analyses and mapping by FEMA, flood zone designations will change in many locations along the shoreline. In some cases property not currently designated as being in a Special Flood Hazard Area (100 yr floodplain) will be redesignated as being in a SFHA on the revised maps. In other cases property will be removed from the Special Flood Hazard Area. The shading and key on the maps below identify the proposed changes. At this time it is anticipated that the new maps will become effective in June 2013. Before then, a formal public comment and appeals process will occur, and property owners directly impacted by the proposed changes will be individually notified.
Please contact the Planning Department with any questions. Additional information regarding FEMA's map revision process is also available at: http://www.starr-team.com/starr/RegionalWorkspaces/RegionI/ . For the FEMA Fact Sheet regarding this process click here.
