At participating businesses, the Tree Commission provides a $50 credit towards the purchase of a tree by a town resident. The $50 is deducted from the price of the tree by the garden center. The tree must be planted in Middletown, and one tree per home owner, per year is permitted.
Participating Businesses
This has been an annual program and is administered through Middletown garden supply businesses:
Budget Restraints
The budget for this program is generous but limited, and it will be terminated for the year when that budget is reached. This program will be continued for this year (2021). Trees will be subsidized on a first come, first served basis while remaining within budget constraints.
Since its inception in 2009, the Commission has subsidized the planting of more than 1,000 trees.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
