Shed Permits

The Town regulates the placement of sheds in residential districts. Additional Accessory Use Regulations can be found in Section 703 of the Zoning Ordinance.  

When applying for a Shed Permit in the E-Permitting Portal select a Building Permit. On the application you can list the description of work as a Shed along with the size/dimensions. 

General provisions

No shed can be placed in the front yard or closer than 10 feet to the principal building.

Per Zoning Regulations

  1. All sheds must meet Zoning Regulations.
  2. Up to 150 square feet: No permit is required; however, the shed must be at least 5 feet from all property lines, maximum height not to exceed 15 feet, and not to exceed maximum percentage of lot coverage per Zoning District.
  3. 150 square feet – 200 Square feet: No permit required, and the shed must now meet residential Zoning setbacks for accessory structures, a site plan must be provided in the permit application.
  4. Greater than 200 square feet: Building Permit Required.  The shed must meet residential Zoning setbacks for accessory structures, a site plan must be provided in the permit application.
