The Town regulates the placement of sheds in residential districts. Additional Accessory Use Regulations can be found in Section 703 of the Zoning Ordinance.
When applying for a Shed Permit in the E-Permitting Portal select a Building Permit. On the application you can list the description of work as a Shed along with the size/dimensions.
General provisions
No shed can be placed in the front yard or closer than 10 feet to the principal building.
Shed Regulations by Size
Per Zoning Regulations
- All sheds must meet Zoning Regulations.
- Up to 150 square feet: No permit is required; however, the shed must be at least 5 feet from all property lines, maximum height not to exceed 15 feet, and not to exceed maximum percentage of lot coverage per Zoning District.
- 150 square feet – 200 Square feet: No permit required, and the shed must now meet residential Zoning setbacks for accessory structures, a site plan must be provided in the permit application.
- Greater than 200 square feet: Building Permit Required. The shed must meet residential Zoning setbacks for accessory structures, a site plan must be provided in the permit application.
