The Middletown Planning Board has drafted proposed zoning ordinance amendments to institute airport overlay zoning. These have been forwarded to the Town Council for consideration. If adopted, the amendments would prohibit certain uses on the identified runway protection zone (RPZ) and would require that development in the vicinity of the airport outside of the RPZ be in compliance with FAA regulations. A Planning Board public workshop meeting to review the draft and accept public input was held on October 13, 2022. Based on input and additional research, the Board made revisions to the proposed amendments, and voted to forward the amendments to the Town Council for consideration. A public hearing will be held in late Sumer or early Fall 2023. The hearing will be advertised and impacted property owners will be notified.
